Why I came to Dean
While a business major at Wake Forest, I studied finance, operations, marketing, and strategy, and thoroughly enjoyed each subject. As I was exploring different career opportunities, I realized I didn’t want to specialize in just one aspect of business or a specific industry, which made strategy consulting a natural fit for me. Dean & Company specifically interested me because it offered a wide variety of casework and clients, as well as opportunities to work with upper management and engage with clients from day one.
My Experiences at Dean
During my time here at Dean, I have had the opportunity to tackle topics from the potential for wind energy to alternative investments strategies to the economics of liquor distribution. While no two days are alike, a focus on rigorous analytics and creative problem solving has been a constant. In addition, the ability to interact with our clients has allowed me to see the impact of our work. Most recently, I have been working for a private equity client and have performed due diligence on dozens of potential acquisition targets. Not only have I learned about a broad array of industries, I have gained invaluable insight into the process of evaluating and acquiring companies.
In addition to the challenging work, Dean & Company has allowed me to work with talented, intelligent individuals. Due to its smaller size and collegial environment, Dean enables analysts to work with people at all levels, including Vice Presidents. Apart from time spent in the office with them, the firm’s monthly social events have allowed me to really get to know my co-workers and build friendships with them.
My Life in DC
Having grown up in a small town, I was excited to experience life in a major city and D.C. hasn’t disappointed. The Metro makes it easy to get around and explore the city, which provides endless opportunities for entertainment and cultural enrichment. From the wide array of monuments and museums to great restaurants, bars, and clubs, D.C. has something for everyone.
