our culture

Dean & Company's practice is extremely demanding, and consultants must possess outstanding skills along a number of dimensions. Superior analytical and problem solving skills form the underpinning for all our work. Excellence in communications and interpersonal relations is critical for listening to and persuading clients, as well as in working within teams. Initiative, tenacity, endurance and respect for others are fundamental personal attributes needed for success.

Our requirement for this combination of skills and personal attributes results in a very selective recruiting process. However, it also means that we are less concerned with particular prior experiences or concentrations. A candidate's demonstrated ability to pursue innovative, challenging academic work is more important than the major in which the work is undertaken. Similarly, evidence of strong interpersonal and communications skills through prior work is more important than the particular firm or industry in which the skills were demonstrated. We hire on the basis of our evaluation of individuals' fundamental capabilities and are concerned about background and experience only to the extent that they provide evidence of those fundamental capabilities.

Dean & Company is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit and hire without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, disability unrelated to job requirements, or marital status.
